Rewind to 1985, when Mr Phongsthorn graduated with a degree in project engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Mr Phongsthorn talks to PTTEP workers in the Bongkot gas field. Finally, in 1997, the rights to the Bongkot gas block were completely transferred to PTTEP -- one year earlier than expected. Also that year, Mr Phongsthorn was assigned to take the helm at the Bongkot gas field as the operations manager. In March, PTTEP entered into a partnership agreement with Total E&P Myanmar, handing over a 50% stake in the Myanmar MD-7 Project, while PTTEP remains the operator of the project.
